  • How do I get started?
    Start by filling out the "Reach Out" form under the Contact tab and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
  • Where are your sessions held?
    Sessions will be held in the comfort of your own home and/or daycare.
  • Do you accept insurance?
    Yes, we are currently only in-network with Medicare and do not accept other insurance. We will be able to provide a superbill (receipt) to submit to insurance for private pay, but unable to guarantee reimbursement. We do recommend checking with your insurance company to be clear on your out-of-network benefits as we are not in-network with any insurance companies at this time.
  • How long are therapy sessions?
    Session times can vary depending on what the client needs and/or can tolerate and will typically be between 30-50 minutes.
  • What areas do you treat?
    With pediatrics, we typically treat phonological disorders (ex: "tat" for "cat"), articulation disorders (ex: distortions or inability to verbalize certain sounds), fluency (ex: stuttering), social skills (ex: making appropriate eye contact and responding to social cues), language disorders (ex: limited vocabulary, not putting two words together, difficulty with comprehension and following directions). With adults, we typically treat aphasia (ex: trouble finding words or understanding language), dysphagia (ex: difficulty swallowing), cognitive impairments (ex: difficulty with concentration, memory, problem solving and executive-function skills).
  • Do you offer teletherapy services?
    Yes! We offer in-person as well as teletherapy services. We are currently only licensed in the state of Iowa and unable to provide out-of-state services at this time.
  • What are the developmental norms for children?
    Birth- 3 months: Begins to make cooing sounds, starts to smile and recognizes voices. 4- 6 months: Begins to make babbling sounds (pa, ba), laughs and starts to notice toys that make sounds. Babies also start to notice the differences in your tone, will move their eyes toward noise and will take turns making sounds with you. 7-12 months: Begins to use gestures, points to objects, imitates speech, responds to their name as well as simple commands (ex: "come here", "no") and children often produce their first word around 12 months. 1-2 years: Children begin to use many new words, name pictures, start to put 2 words together, follow directions, point to body parts and understand simple questions (ex: "Where is your shirt?"). 2-3 years: Starts to understand opposites, follows 2-step directions, talks about things that are not present, asks for things and uses p, b, m, n, d, t, k, g, f, w, y, and ng during speech. Children should also verbalize about 50 words at 30 months. 3-4 years: Begins to identify colors and shapes as well as different family members (grandma, aunt, sister), uses pronouns and some plurals. Children begin to use l, j, ch, s, v, sh and z during speech and their speech should be 50% intelligible to unfamiliar listeners by age 4. 4-5 years: Understands words in order (ex: "first", "second"), uses words for time, follows multi-step directions and is able to tell short stories. Children start to use r and voiced th sounds and their speech should be 75% intelligible to unfamiliar listeners.
